  • TK-6th: Pawsitively SEL
    Each of these free lesson downloads (K-6) allows you to use the facial expression of canines to open up a dialogue with your child about emotions conveyed through facial expressions.

     

  • 6th-8th: Micro-expressions / ...Less or More Lonely?
    In these two experiments, middle schoolers are challenged to investigate the significance of facial expressions and the likelihood of loneliness based on media usage.

Five Days of Strategies (May 10th-14th)
 

May is Mental Health Awareness month. During the week of May 10th, CORE will be recognizing mental well-being through five days centered on the Disney movie Inside Out. In the movie the main character interacts with the emotions in her brain as separate characters. Each of our days will focus on one of those characters, as well as a tangible expression of a healthy coping strategy for the given emotion.

  • Monday: Sadness
    Wear blue; comforting/cozy item
     

  • Tuesday: Anger
    Wear red; comfortable walking shoes
     

  • Wednesday: Disgust
    Wear green; exercise clothing
     

  • Thursday: Fearful
    Wear purple; a hat
     

  • Friday: Joy
    Wear yellow; dress as a favorite musician

Five Days of Strategies (May 10th-14th)

Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

May is Mental Health Awareness month. Please read more about how to participate in five days that identify emotions (based on the movie Inside Out) and give an opportunity to demonstrate healthy coping strategies.
